Twin

Hope

Going to Paducah 2007! This original quilt design was completed in September 2006. Our quilt guild was challenged to complete a quilt that we were struggling with. This is the first quilt that I pieced using 80% template pieces. The quilting design was also original and was designed specifically for this quilt. I spent 2-3 hours a day for at least a month quilting it. I used three different colors of quilting thread in order to accent each area. The binding is hand finished.

Trains Coming and Going

This twin sized quilt is an original design made on commission for a young boy who loves trains. His mother gave me the color scheme but left the design open. This allowed my husband and I to have fun with the design. The ourter border is machine quilted with a continuous line train, which runs both ways down the track, hence the name "Coming and going". The binding is hand finished.

Too Cool

This fat-quarter friendly original design was created using a collection of black/bright fabrics. I looked for these type of fabrics in every store I visited for several years. My daughter helped with the fabric layout. The pattern can be adapted for any size quilt. The bright patterns in the fabrics tend to leap right out at you.

Grandma's Garden

BUY THIS
This quilt is reminiscent of the quilt laying on a Grandmother's bed. The softness of the floral Moda fabrics, lends itself to this simple but elegant design. The center of the quilt is a four-patch set on point and is finished with a scalloped border. The center of the quilt is heavily machine quilted with a "teardrop or peacock" design. The feather quilting design in the border follows the curve of the scallops. The binding is hand finished.

Sail Away

BUY THIS
This child's size bed quilt features bears and sailboats. The strip piecing allows the theme fabrics to be seen. It also allows for several fun and bright fabrics to be used. The outer border fabric with a small sun print is a great backdrop for the heavy machine quilting. The large suns in the border are the size of large dinner plates. The sailboats were stitched continuous line using a blue accent thread. The backing was pieced using the scrap trips from the top center. The binding was hand finished.

Liberty

BUY THIS
This orginal quilt design came from my love of Americana quilts and fabrics. The large red stars are accented with the blue and white fabrics. The pieced ribbon border and setting corner squares are a nice "frame" for the center design. The quilt top is heavily machine quilted with a new quilting design made specifically for this quilt. The backing of the quilt is pieced using the blue fabric from the top and a script fabric. The binding is hand finished.

Bed Bugs

BUY THIS
This twin sized strip quilt features bright fabrics and bugs. The wide border is accented with couching (attaching treads or yarns to your quilt top). I had seen the couching technique demonstrated and had to try it for myself. The bright colors of the yarn coordinates nicely with the fabrics. The center of the quilt is machine quilted with a meador and the border uses a decorative stitch to attach the yarn to all three layers. The binding is hand finished.

Nautical Irish Chain

This quilt is centered on a cream-based reproduction fabric which features a sailor and ships. It is a triple Irish Chain pattern with 1 inch squares done in cream, red, and navy blue. The quilt has a triple outer border and is quilted heavily. The center quilting is straight line through the chain squares and a large anchor in the theme fabric. The red inner border is quilted with a meandering star, the middle cream border is quilted with waves, and the blue outer border is quilted with a cable. The backing is pieced with a coordinating reproduction fabric (cream based with red and blue dots), red fabric (from the inner border), and blue fabric (from the outer border). The quilting thread on the back is cream which accents the quilting. The binding is hand finished.
