The story:
This quilt was designed as a replacement for a quilt I had used up! My Aunt Ruth gave that well-loved quilt to me when she retired after 38 years as a missionary to India. The missionary society from a church in Peoria, Illinois had made this quilt for her and it was given to me when Ruth went into Bethel Nursing Home in Oshkosh, Wisconsin (a wonderful, loving and caring place). As I said – the quilt was well used and very loved. I hated to part with it but it was reduced to only a covering of old batting. My daughter suggested it could be replaced. After using soft pastels to piece a simple top, Jennifer used Bible verses to quilt my comforter.
When sleep comes slowly, it is so nice to think on these promises from scripture.
I will both lay me down in peace and sleep.
Be still and know that I am God.
And the peace of God which passeth all understanding will keep your hearts, and minds.
Casting all your cares upon Him for he careth for you.
Rest in the Lord and wait patiently for him.
And let the peace of God rule in your hearts.
I will give peace and quietness.
Amen
