Double

Something Old and Something Blue

When I saw the block design for this Old-fashioned wedding ring pattern in a picture of an old quilt, I just knew I had to make one. The traditional block lent itself nicely to a two color quilt. I really liked the softness of the muslin and the light blue print fabrics. The saw-tooth inner border is also very traditional. The machine quilting is done with a white-to-frosty blue variegated thread in the muslin squares and white in the pieced squares. It is quilted with white on the muslin backing. The solid blue binding frames the quilt nicely and was hand finished. It is an extra long double bed sized quilt. This quilt won a honorable mention in the Pensacola Quilters Guild Show 2006 in the two-color quilt category.
